Awarded by Clough for the new Port Moresby Power Station, MTIS delivered the full pre-commissioning scope on all major and minor pipework services: cleaning, flushing, pressure testing, nitrogen purging, desiccant drying, UHP heat-exchanger descaling, and torque and tensioning.

Scope

  • Lube oil flushing, target shock blowing, and chemical cleaning across major and minor pipework services.
  • Hydrostatic and nitrogen pressure testing, plus nitrogen purging of cleared lines.
  • Desiccant drying of pipework prior to commissioning hand-over.
  • UHP (ultra-high-pressure) heat-exchanger descaling.
  • Torque and tensioning of bolted connections, with calibrated tooling and traceable records.
  • Hand-over of pipework to Clough against client cleanliness specification.

Approach

A multi-service pre-commissioning scope was sequenced per service so each line could be released to commissioning as soon as it was cleared, rather than holding the full programme behind the slowest line. Cleaning, pressure testing, drying, descaling and torque records were tracked line-by-line against the client cleanliness specification.

Outcome

All pipework accepted for use without any safety incidents and met the client cleanliness specification. Clough was able to commission the associated pipework without vendor equipment failures or incidents. That is the result the pre-commissioning programme is paid to produce.
